What is Henna?

Henna is a plant native to countries with hot climates such as Pakistan, India, Algeria, Morocco, Turkey etc. The leaves of this plant are crushed into a flour like powder, which is then combined with natural ingredients such as sugar, essential oils, and lemon juice. The end result is a silky henna paste which is used to create amazing henna designs onto the body.

After getting your henna design, it is important to follow a few tips that can help your henna design last longer and stain darker:

  • The soles and palms have the thickest layer of skin, therefore it can absorb the henna stain a lot better. This results in the hands and feet having darker and more long-lasting stains.

  • Keep the paste on for as long as you can, the longer the better.

  • Avoid direct contact with water for the first 24 hours after the paste is removed. Keep in mind that the more you wash and scrub the area with the henna stain, the faster your henna stain will fade.

  • Always try scraping the henna off when removing it, rather than washing it away with water.

  • Henna is a light brownish-orange color when first removed, but the stain slowly darkens over the next 48 hours into a deep chocolate brown stain.

If you follow the tips above, your henna stain will last 7-10 days!
